Scholarships

First Command Educational Foundation (FCEF) awards scholarships each year to individuals seeking associate, undergraduate and graduate degrees. FCEF also awards scholarships to individuals seeking professional certifications and trade school attendees. Our scholars come from diverse backgrounds, and have chosen to attend a variety of higher educational institutions across the nation.

FCEF is proud to award an average of $175,000 annually in scholarships around the nation. We have successfully maintained this annual average since 1983 and awarded a total of over $3.5 million. All FCEF scholarships are made possible through the generosity of individuals, businesses, and corporations. FCEF is fortunate enough to have a $750,000 permanently restricted endowment, Carroll H. Payne Scholarship Fund Endowment, that helps support the scholarship program annually. In addition, FCEF hosts one fundraising event annually to raise money for the scholarship program. For more information FCEF’s Scholarship Coordinator at 817-569-2687. There are three different opportunities for scholarship with FCEF:

First Command Educational Foundation has delayed the scholarship application period for 2009. The application information and award criteria will be posted on this website during the week of January 12-16, 2009. Please return at that time to begin the scholarship process.

The second major method FCEF uses to award scholarships is by working with numerous community organizations and educational institutions around the nation (i.e. Circle T Girl Scouts, Kadena Officers’ Spouses Club Organization, Credit.com, and Rutgers University). FCEF does not advertise these scholarship on our website, nor are we involved in the selection process in any way—we simply help create these community opportunities by ensuring they are funded through FCEF. In all these cases, you must apply directly with partner organizations and meet their established criteria.

Finally, FCEF’s Scholarship program partners with local First Command Financial Planning (FCFP) offices around the nation to coordinate the process and be involved with the presentation ceremonies. You can determine what awards may be available in your area through FCFP partnerships by contacting your local FCFP office and inquiring whether that office is participating in any scholarship programs. The First Command Financial Planning website (www.firstcommand.com) has an office locator that will help you find the office most convenient to you.
