Your credit record is established the first time your name appears at one of the credit reporting services. It may have started when your service checked your credit as part of the security clearance process. It will start (or be added to) when you apply for a loan or a credit card. The party who extends the credit will make an inquiry and then follow up with reports to the credit reporting service on your debt repayments

If you have not checked a copy of your credit report lately, you should. You will not know how accurate your report is unless you check.
